SUMMER FUN

We decided to kick off the summer with a fun trip to a sunflower maze. My family likes to visit corn mazes during the Fall, a sunflower maze just makes sense for the Summer. Sunflower mazes are a great, low cost, family friendly outing. It would even make for a great first date if you’re the outdoorsy type. You can get “lost” in the maze, bird watch, butterfly chase, and/or play the damsel in distress (ladies we’ve all done it once or twice in our lives) should an unruly bumble bee decides to get too close.

Or you could just carry some bug repellent like a modern woman or man… whateve’s you see where I’m going with this…lol It’s a really romantic spot if you want to impress someone without breaking the bank. Think, picnic, a bottle of wine, and good conversation; if your into that kind of thing.

Meet miss Allis…She’s a 70 year tractor. I gently climbed her so I could do my best impression of a farm hand 😝

We decided to visit Goldpetal Farms for our first official summer shoot. Goldpetal Farms is located in Prince Mary County, Maryland. It’s a family owned farm. We were greeted by cutest brother and sister duo. The young man manned the register. He was the most polite and knowledgeable little guy you could ask for. If only every 10 year old boy was as industrious as him, this would be a much better world.

His sister was just as charming, she updated us on the maze activities, cut flower prices, bee sting waiver; yes I said bee sting waiver. As you can imagine there are quite a number of bees doing God’s work of pollinating the sunflowers and sometimes people get stung. It’s a farm these things happen, so I signed my rights away cause she was just so freaking cute.

The young man informed us the sunflowers hadn’t actually reached full blossom as advertised on their website. What are you going to do mother nature has a mind of her own; right?! This farm is about an hour away from my house so had to make the best of it. They graciously offered everyone a 20 percent discount for the inconvenience, which I welcomed and took. FYI- Admission is only $10 person, kids under 6 are free. We got the lay of the land and set out on our journey.

The maze is well done.

We hit few dead-ends, circled back, found a picnic table and a beautiful oak tree. There was a flower patch to die for. We encountered a number of curious bees who buzzed really close to me, which lead to a bit of panic on my part but I got it together. We found a few patches of beautiful sunflowers that decided to show up for the party. All in all it was a great adventure. I highly recommend making the trip.

Can’t end this without giving the deets on this look.

I love me a good pair of distressed jeans. I don’t own too many because they don’t meet the dress code for work. The cost/benefit just doesn’t add up. Can you tell I work with a bunch of accountants?! But I had to have THESE jeans. They are by my new favorite designer, Nicole Lynel. They were sold out for months and she decided to bring them back one more time, yay!!!. As you can imagine they sold out very quickly this time around as well. You can find a similar pair, here and here. I didn’t miss out this time around. I love the high-waist, boyfriend fit, of these jeans. They are super soft and you can dress them up or down.

I paired them with this off the shoulder stunner from Urban Outfitters. This top is by C/meo Collective. This brand is giving me thee feels 💗. I’ve bought two tops from the brand so far. I love the drama of this top, the puffy sleeves, the mid-section cutout; just so feminine and delicate. An added surprise is the subtle floral borcade design. This top is currently on sale so get it while it’s hot, pun intended.

Until next time bumble bees 🐝🐝🐝

Xoxo,

Andrea
